Privacy Policy
Last updated July 1, 2026
This policy explains what information Threaditate collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. We have written it in plain language. Threaditate turns your photos into string-art patterns, so the photos and projects you create are at the heart of what we handle, and we treat them with care.
Information you give us
When you create an account we collect your email address, and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares (such as your name and email). When you use Threaditate we store the photos you upload, the projects and renderings you create, and the settings, crop, notes, and adjustments you choose.
Information we collect automatically
As you use the app we collect usage and device information: the pages and features you interact with, general device and browser details (such as browser, operating system, screen size, and your browser's user-agent), and diagnostic data such as errors and crash information. This usage data is linked to your account. We also capture snapshots of renderings (the source image, the settings used, and the resulting pattern) so we can debug, evaluate, and improve the app.
How your photos are processed
Some processing of your photo, such as detecting faces and separating the subject from the background, runs entirely on your own device in your browser. To go further, we send your photo to Anthropic and, when a background-removal feature is enabled, to Replicate, to help prepare it for string art. We send only the image for this, never your name, email, or account details. These providers process the image to return a result and do not use it for their own purposes.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and maintain the service, save and reopen your projects, generate string-art patterns from your photos, sign you in and keep your account secure, protect against abuse, respond to support requests, understand how features are used, and to debug, evaluate, and improve Threaditate. We use your content only to run and improve the service for you, not for advertising.
Service providers we share with
We rely on trusted providers to run Threaditate and share only what each needs to do its job. Supabase stores your account, projects, and images. Anthropic and Replicate perform the automated image processing described above. Cloudflare Turnstile helps confirm you are a real person at sign-in. Google provides optional sign-in. PostHog provides product analytics and diagnostics, and Vercel provides hosting and performance monitoring. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Analytics and diagnostics
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used and to catch errors, and this analytics is associated with your account. It may include recordings of how you interact with the app to help us diagnose problems; where this is on, entries you type into form fields (such as your password) are masked. We also use Vercel to measure performance. We use this information to keep the app working well and to improve it, not to build a profile of you for advertising.
What we will not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not publicly share your photos or projects, and we do not make them visible to other users. Our team may access your content to operate the service, provide support, and diagnose problems, and that access is limited to those purposes.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences such as your crop, zoom, and chosen voice, secure the service, and measure how the app is used. Some of this is essential to signing in and using Threaditate; other parts help us understand usage and fix problems. You can clear this data through your browser at any time, though signing in may not work without the essential cookies.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active, so your projects are there when you come back. You can delete your own projects and uploaded images at any time from within the app. If you would like us to delete your account or other information we hold about you, contact us and we will take care of it. We keep rendering snapshots and related diagnostic data for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the service.
Your choices and rights
You can view, edit, and delete your projects and uploaded images at any time from within the app. You can also ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us, and depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your data. You can sign out on any device, and you can stop providing new content simply by not uploading it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly if something goes wrong.
Children
Threaditate is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make meaningful changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
